We are proud to support Canadian research focused on improving the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of individuals affected by GBS, CIDP, MMN, and related peripheral neuropathies.

Funding overview

The GBS/CIDP Foundation of Canada is offering one grant of $10,000 for a one-year, patient-oriented research project.

The successful candidate will be expected to work in collaboration with the GBS/CIDP Foundation of Canada membership, Board of Directors, and Medical Advisory Board. The Foundation will assist with participant recruitment of its members (if required).

2026 grant cycle

In 2026, we are encouraging Canadian researchers to consider research in two areas of interest to the community. Any proposal that is chosen in one of the following priority areas will be incentivized and increased to $15,000.

  • The impact of aging on individuals with CIDP
  • The fear of relapse in GBS or CIDP patients

Who can apply?

This grant is open to Canadian researchers in any discipline (scientific or humanities) whose work focuses on improving care for patients living with GBS, CIDP, MMN, or related disorders.

Deliverables and expectations

Grant recipients are expected to:

  • Submit a formal proposal using the form below to apply for the grant
  • Initiate, analyze, and complete a patient-oriented research project with GBS/CIDP Foundation of Canada membership within one year
  • Present findings at a conference (travel costs may be eligible for reimbursement)
  • Submit a peer-reviewed paper and a final report to the Foundation

  • Grant program launch: Dec 1, 2025
  • Application deadline: Jan 31, 2026
  • Successful applicants notified: Mar 14, 2026
  • Funding start date: May 1, 2026
  • Quarterly milestones review
  • Final report/presentation to the Board: May 12, 2027
