Meet Walk Chair Holly Longstaff

Holly’s story:  In 2019, I was diagnosed with GBS on April 1st (April Fools’ Day). I was diagnosed immediately by the amazing healthcare team at Lions Gate Hospital. Like many GBS patients, I was bedridden within a day, terrified,  and spent almost 2 months in the hospital. However, I received world-class care and was back to work full-time in July, only a few months later. I was fortunate, but many patients are not. In December 2023, I joined the Board of Directors of the GBS/CIDP Foundation of Canada to bring my research experience to the Foundation and help drive its research initiatives.

Clinical teams need streamlined access to robust, population-wide data to inform their decisions.  We need more research about how to treat and recover from GBS, CIDP, and MMN!!!! The Foundation is actively beefing up its research portfolio. With the generous support of our Gold-star donor, the Sanâa and Richard Fund, we are working towards the creation of a dedicated Canadian research registry for our disease groups.

But funding research is only one of the many things we do. Join me in raising funds to help support the Foundation! Every little bit helps. Please donate now to support current and future patients with GBS, CIDP, and MMN, as well as their healthcare teams!
