Illuminations – Light it Up! for our rare neurological conditions

Thank you for bringing recognition to MMN Awareness Month and GBS/CIDP Awareness Month!

Each year, we encourage our community of patients, family members and volunteers to join us in bringing MMN Awareness (February) and GBS/CIDP Awareness Month (May) to their region by asking their city to join the ‘Light it up!’ campaign.

What is Light it Up for MMN / Light it Up for GBS/CIDP?

The ‘Light It Up’ campaign encourages cities across Canada to illuminate their iconic landmarks in orange during MMN Awareness Month and in blue during GBS/CIDP Awareness Month. Our goal is to have a different landmark lit up throughout the months of February and May, raising awareness for our rare conditions. We invite community members to take selfies on the night of the lighting in their city and share them on social media. Many towns and landmarks provide a lighting schedule and details about the cause on their website. Each lighting event helps shine a spotlight on our rare conditions, fostering greater awareness and improving the chances of better outcomes for future patients.

How do illuminations help patients?

Illuminations shine a spotlight on both MMN and GBS/CIDP Awareness Month, raising public awareness about our conditions. These events offer our community members the chance to raise awareness in their towns. They’re perfect opportunities to visit your city’s landmarks with friends, family, and neighbours, and each visit allows you to share your personal story. These events also provide a great opportunity to spread awareness on social media. Landmark lightings are visually stunning and are sure to make a memorable impact on your social media pages.

Illuminations create awareness, and give visibility to the community which in turn helps every GBS, CIDP, and MMN patient and their families.
